Gazzetta dello Sport understands that AC Milan are turning away from appointing Olympique de Marseille’s Roberto De Zerbi.
Earlier this month, the Italian publication revealed that De Zerbi was likely to leave Marseille after just one season to take the reigns at AC Milan. It has been a tumultuous debut campaign for the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager at the Vélodrome but it could yet end with qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
However, it is now looking less likely that this will be De Zerbi’s only season with OM. Targeted by AC Milan, who are likely to part ways with Sergio Conceiçao at the end of the season, the Italian is no longer the priority. Instead, the Serie A giants are now focusing their efforts on re-appointing Massimiliano Allegri, who won the Scudetto with AC Milan back in 2011. Their pursuit of Allegri will likely signal an end to their interest in OM’s manager.
