Manchester United stopper Dean Henderson has been told that there is 'no way' he will dislodge long-serving David de Gea between the posts at Old Trafford.
Henderson, 25, continues to impress with Nottingham Forest after signing for the club on loan this summer, while he was man-of-the-match against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. Henderson produced seven saves on the way to his second straight clean sheet for the Premier League strugglers.
It was an eye-catching win for Steve Cooper and his newly-promoted squad in front of the TV cameras. However, even though United academy graduate Henderson was lauded for his performance, Garth Crooks reckons it will not have any impact on his aim to become number one at Old Trafford.
Henderson did manage to leapfrog De Gea in the pecking order the season before last. He suffered an unfortunate bout of Covid-19 last summer, though, while his Spanish contemporary took that opportunity with both hands and re-emerged as first choice under former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Erik ten Hag allowed Henderson to leave on loan, once again, this summer. His previous spells away from the club were at Grimsby, Shrewsbury and Sheffield United (twice).
Writing in his BBC Sport column, pundit Crooks said: "He's had good games before, but nothing quite as important or as impressive as his performance against the former European champions. Liverpool should have won this fixture and would have done if it hadn't been for Dean Henderson.
"While the Manchester United loanee has been at Nottingham Forest, he's saved a penalty, clawed balls off the line and, against Liverpool, he saved Forest from certain defeat. The difficulty for Henderson is there is no way he's going to replace David de Gea at United.
"I can see him becoming an exceptional goalkeeper at Forest. After all, it didn't do Peter Shilton any harm."

He never was and the cloud realized he couldn't be useful anymore and he was released. please Dean leave the sun is still shining. when the Gea was recruited , sir Alex allowed him to learn from Van de Sat and eventually took over from. why can't Eric Ten Hag do same. He even wants to buy a keeper this destroys the product of our academy. Eric Ten Hag should stop pretending and give our academy products chance.

Performing For Other Clubs (Stockport County.., Grimsby Town.., Shrewsbury Town.., Sheffield United And Nottingham Forest) Is Totally Different From Doing A Job Manchester United. Dean Henderson Is A Very Good GK.., But De Gea Is Way Better.
