Luke Shaw might be impressing again with Manchester United - but an England return is off the table.
That's the view of former Premier League star Troy Deeney, who named him Man of the Match in the Red Devils' 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
In recent years, the 30-year-old has struggled for fitness and often parachuted in by managers for key games rather than being a constant fixture.
This season, though, manager Ruben Amorim has been able to call on the English star in each of their 13 Premier League games this season.
The left-sided centre-back, who has previously played at left-back for club and currently, is now looking comfortable in a back-three and impressing.
In Manchester United's victory at Selhurst Park over the Eagles, Shaw played a key role in the win.
With Palace already a goal to the good, a slip from Matthijs de Ligt saw Eddie Nketiah racing through on goal.
However, Shaw was able to get back and block his strike, denying the ex-Arsenal star in style.
Meanwhile, he got another key block in to deny Yeremy Pino too.
Those moments saw Deeney hand Shaw the Man of the Match award, despite goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount.
“It's a tough one to pick because there's no real standout player. The one for me I'm going to give it to is Luke Shaw," he told talkSPORT.
“I know they bought him off with ten minutes to go for Lisandro Martinez, but I thought he was great.
“You talk about moments in games, if he quits on the play it's a goal for [Eddie] Nketiah. His last-ditch tackle keeps it at 1-0 gives them the platform and the ability to go and win this game.
“Luke Shaw was the best player on the pitch for me.”
He added: “I based it on the whole performance. I thought Luke Shaw was the best Man United player in the first half trying to get things going from an attacking sense, even as a defender.
“At that moment if he stops and watches it goes well it was Shaw’s fault. Then they're two down and you can't see a way back from it. He puts the hard yards in.
“I was looking at Mason Mount as well, but other than the goal I don't really remember him doing too much.”
Shaw has previously been an England regular, earning 34 caps and went to Euro 2024, despite concerns about his fitness.
Thomas Tuchel has frequently switched left-backs due to form and fitness with Lewis Hall, Djed Spence, Nico O'Reilly, and Tino Livramento all playing there recently.
When asked if Shaw could still get in the England team, though, Deeney added: “I think England have moved past him.”
Mount was another Three Lions star who made an impact with the winning goal.
His quick free-kick routine with Bruno Fernandes saw Dean Henderson well beaten in the Palace goal.
And it was something the Red Devils duo have worked on already this - but it still took him by surprise.
He said "It was the 50th goal in my career. It was a good one. Me and Bruno, we tried it in pre-season when we were in America. We did something very similar.
Mount is another Manchester United player gradually getting back to his best after fitness issues
"I missed, I just went past the post. It was a very similar spot. So I said to him, this could be on for a roll-in and shoot. But I was like, I'll roll it for you.
"And he said, 'No, you stay there'. And then I said to him, you hit it because the sun was obviously behind us. Deano in goal, I thought he couldn't see the ball as well because of the Sun. If Bruno shot, it might have gone in.
"And then he just said, 'No, no, I'm going to roll it to you', and he rolled it straight away. That's why I think if you watch it back, I've seen it back once now, my reaction is kind of like, 'Oh yeah', he did it really quick.
"But I think that helped it because they didn't know it was coming.
They didn't see us speaking. It was a quick reaction.
"We just made it up and the most important thing was to get the shot off. And as I was about to shoot, I could see a little gap opening up.
"I saw the wall kind of coming towards the ball and then it's just about hitting the target. So yeah, I'm really happy with the three points. That's obviously the most important thing."

Since when Luke Shaw started playing for the three lions, they have not win anything they are not going to win something again and again
The National Team hasn’t won anything in over 60 years . That has nothing to do with Shaw

Troy Deeney like most people are so obsessed with Manchester United. this Deeney guy was so average in his playing time, ask him how many times he played for England
He was below average pal . His only career highlight was the goal he scored against Leicester in the Championship play off game . That’s what people remember him for get he acts and talks as if he is an all time great . That’s how most of these English pundits are

Deeney must have watched only his English boys and that's why he only saw what Shaw and Mount did. He's talking about Shaw's England career? Did he ever have one himself? 😂😂🤣🙊
