Chelsea have already signed 12 players this summer but are still active in the transfer market and Deivid Washington could be the next star to put pen to paper

Deivid Washington has all but confirmed his Chelsea transfer, after saying his goodbyes at Santos. The 18-year-old forward is set to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Angelo Gabriel who joined the Blues earlier this summer.

The Brazilian youngster could follow a similar path too, with Strasbourg a possible destination for Washington should he head out on loan before the window closes.

The striker, who has scored six goals in 22 appearances in 2023, is set to join the west London side in a deal worth up to £17million.

Washington confirmed his departure from Santos in a post on Instagram, before revealing he was completing a transfer to Europe. However, he stopped short of confirming that Chelsea would be his next destination.

He said: "Yea yea A Holy Nation My first passage through Santos has come to an end.

"I am very grateful to everyone involved in putting on this heavy World Cup shirt. It's true that I stayed in the professional for months, but I've been in this Club since I was 11. I've had many highlights, I won titles, I went through some bad times, but I never stopped believing in my potential.

"I'm achieving another dream, which is to perform in Europe. Am happy, but remember that I promised to make the Saints champion. As a good President, I will return to fulfill this!

"Thank you and I will miss the crowded Belmiro Village supporting us in every victories. See you later!"

The youngster is still set to complete a medical, while Romeo Lavia is set to undergo the same process after Chelsea agreed a deal worth £58million with Southampton. The Blues have also triggered the release clause of Michael Olise, though there are still details to iron out in the deal.
