Ernesto Valverde has revealed his Barcelona squad to face Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio de Vallecas on Saturday which includes a call up for young midfielder Carles Alena but sees Denis Suarez and Malcom drop out.
Alena impressed in the team's late win over Cultural Leonesa in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and therefore keeps his place as does Chumi.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi and Samuel Umtiti have now reintegrated with the Barcelona squad and are edging closer to a return to action.
Thomas Vermaelen and Sergi Samper miss out through injury.

I knew as soon as Malcolm joined Barca that it was an unnecessary signing... They might have done it hoping that he'll be Suarez's replacement but Suarez will continue to be in the starting XI for much more time, possibly a year or two... Till then what will Malcolm do? Train with the reserves? Play the unimportant matches? Spending 40 million on a person who's inevitably going to warm the bench for most of the year indicates a crazy transfer policy in the Barca boardroom - if you find ANY young talented player, buy him! They must consider the consequences of destroying a young player's potential this way... Now I realize Roma would have been a MUCH better option. He could have developed there till he's mature and consistent and then move to a bigger stage like Barca. Same is happening with Vicinius Jr. If you're not capable of performing on the big stage with a big team, you'll end up like Dembele or Bakayoko. On the other hand, if you slowly develop with a team of smaller status, you can go to any club and make an immediate impact like Salah or De Bruyne. I hope Barca either sell him, loan him or use him more than they use Suarez because Suarez deserves the rest while Malcolm can utilize his game time to become world-class...
