During the press conference, France coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed that Lyon left-back Ferland Mendy will join Real Madrid.
"Mendy had a monumental progression, he has ambition and a lot of skill, and in two years he has gone from playing in Ligue 2 to signing for Real Madrid", said Deschamps.
L' Équipe have reported that Ferland Mendy had been undergoing a medical with Real Madrid before.
The fresh report does not detail the fee between the two clubs, although Lyon are said to value their player at €50m with Madrid’s opening offer coming in at €30m.
Mendy, who has dual nationality with Senegal, has received comparisons with current Madrid full-back Marcelo, whom Zinedine Zidane reportedly wants to provide competition too.
