June 16th, the French national team is set to play their first match of this FIFA World Cup. France national team coach Didier Deschamps has achieved 14 wins as a coach in the FIFA World Cup, tying him for second place in history.

On the list of historic FIFA World Cup victories, the top spot is still held by German coaching legend Helmut Schön.

During his legendary tenure as coach of the West German national team, he led the side in a total of 25 FIFA World Cup matches, achieving an astounding 16 victories.

Schön coached the German national team from 1966 to 1978. He led the team to the final of the 1966 England FIFA World Cup and ultimately lifted the championship trophy at the 1974 Germany FIFA World Cup, marking one of the most brilliant moments of his career. His coaching legacy is still regarded as one of the greatest chapters in the history of international football.

Tied for second place on the all-time wins list is legendary coach Scolari, who achieved 14 victories in the FIFA World Cup and led Brazil to victory at the 2002 Korea-Japan FIFA World Cup.

Scolari led the team to a perfect seven wins at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, a record that is still widely mentioned today.

The only coach with a realistic chance of challenging Helmut Schön's record at this FIFA World Cup is French coach Didier Deschamps.

Deschamps has already achieved 14 victories in the FIFA World Cup, equaling Scolari, and is gradually closing in on Schön's all-time record.

He led France to victory at the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and once again guided the team to the final at the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup, establishing one of the most successful golden generations in French football history.

Furthermore, Deschamps will lead the French team through their third consecutive FIFA World Cup campaign in 2026. If France secure three consecutive victories in the group stage, Deschamps will hold the outright record for the most wins in history.
