Antonio Di Natale reveals he chose ‘happiness’ over a transfer from Udinese to Juventus and says it’s ‘a scandal’ to know that Francesco Totti won’t enter Trigoria at Roma.
The former No10 arrived at the Dacia Arena in 2004 and his performances with the Zebrette gave him the opportunity to sign for the Old Lady.
But the former Italy international decided to stay where he was happy and the 42-year-old doesn’t seem to regret spending 12 years with the Friulians, contributing 228 goals in 445 matches.
“I felt good in Udine. Both me and my family,” he told the Corriere dello Sport. “If I had accepted the offer from Juventus it’s clear that my life would have changed.
“But I don’t know if it would have been for better or for worse. I might have scored 300 goals instead of 2019, but don’t you consider happiness?
“Being happy playing is the first concept I try to convey to my kids.”
His old friend and another club symbol, Francesco Totti, had a controversial farewell at Roma and Di Natale claims it’s a scandal that the legend doesn’t feel welcome at Trigoria.
“I read that when he [Totti] accompanies his son to Trigoria, he stays outside waiting for him in the car,” Di Natale added. “In my opinion it’s a scandal, it’s a colossal shame.
“Totti wrote the history of Roma, Totti is Roma and his statue should even be built inside the sports centre.”
