Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has admitted to 'loving' Cristiano Ronaldo and the 'charming idea' of seeing him at Dortmund, but he was keen to stress that 'no contact' had been with Manchester United.
Ronaldo has been hoping for a move away from Old Trafford for some weeks but has been turned down by a number of European clubs.
He is keen to play another season of Champions League football to secure his record as the tournament's highest ever scorer.
Lionel Messi lurks just 15 goals behind him and is likely to play a big role in PSG's European campaign this season.
In quotes carried By Fabrizio Romano, Watzke said: 'I love Cristiano Ronaldo - it's certainly a charming idea to see Cristiano play at Signal Iduna Park. But there is no contact at all between the parties involved.'
Ronaldo has failed to make an impact so far this season as United have lost both of their opening Premier League games.
Despite this, there are some who think he could be the man to turn things around at the club.
Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Gary Neville said: '[Ronaldo] wants to finish his career at a club that's achieving great things.
'But I do think he's the only player in that dressing room that could lead them. He's the only one with the in-built resilience and mental strength. The club is in crisis and it needs leaders to lead. He’s the only one who can grab this situation by the scruff of the neck!'

The illiteracy of people reading this article is shambolic to say the least. I mean, the article indicates that there was no contact at all, which means Ronaldo didn't offer himself nor were there any negotiations but the comment section is talking about rejection. There is no single club that has come forward and said Ronaldo has offered himself and we rejected him. They all respond to the idea of Ronaldo joining their club. Manchester hasn't said anything about him issuing a transfer request, he hasn't said anything about it. It's just ideas that are reported as facts and naive readers take it as a fact. This article in other words is saying reports that said Ronaldo offered himself to Dortmund are a lie but illiterate readers fail to read in-between the lines and conclude it as a rejection.

This is to those useless, brainless fans who enjoy wasting time just to troll CR7 for no reasonable reason not the wise ones .Even bring Messi into this Man Utd team and see how frustrated he would be. They couldn't even stand Messi being overshadowed by Mbappe last season how much more in a team with no winning Mentality. Stop these useless trolls and but some respect on CR7 name he even got nominated for a ballon d'or in this struggling Man Utd team. Facts will always be facts. Never a debate
