Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl says there has been no meeting with Manchester United to discuss a potential swap deal involving Jadon Sancho and Donyell Malen.
Dortmund are however, understood to be interested in re-signing Sancho on an initial loan providing United cover a significant percentage of his £250k-a-week salary. Kehl told DAZN on Wednesday night as his side drew 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League to seal top spot in Group F: “At the moment there is no exchange deal discussed or any interest in any player."
The Bundesliga giants are looking to offload Malen next month following crunch talks with his agent Maikel Stevens last week. The 24-year-old attacker has fallen out of favour in Germany and is now represented by Sports Entertainment Group, who are run by Erik ten Hag's agent Kees Vos. In the past 10 days, there have been suggestions that Malen could be used as makeweight by Dortmund in a potential swoop for Sancho, though any permanent deal would still require the United winger to accept a notable pay-cut.
Malen would represent a direct replacement for Sancho at United and would save the club time trying to sign another right-winger during the January transfer window. Dortmund value Malen at around £30million after signing the versatile forward from PSV Eindhoven for £25m back in 2021
Meanwhile, Edin Terzic's side have provided United with a welcome boost in the race for red-hot Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has a bargain £15m release clause this winter. The Red Devils have already opened talks with the player's agent Moussa Sissoko and if they agree personal terms with the centre-forward - they can strike a deal without long-winded negotiations with Stuttgart.
Newcastle, AC Milan and West Ham are also interested in the Guinea international who is continuing to swerve a contract extension at Stuttgart in which the German club have proposed the prospect of buying out his release clause so that it no longer exists. Guirassy has scored 18 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
Kehl has now shot down claims that Dortmund are interested, adding: "At the moment there are no discussions at all. Neither with the club nor with the player. That really amused me."
United are eyeing attacking reinforcements with Anthony Martial expected to leave the club this summer on a free transfer when his current contract is due to expire.
