Borussia Dortmund used a PSG post from four years ago to mock the French side after they dumped them out of the Champions League.

The Germans were major underdogs going in the semi-finals and, after their 1-0 first-leg win, were able to back that up with a victory via the same scoreline in Paris. It means they will advance to Wembley to play either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the final.

Dortmund, who came through the group of death, faced PSG in the last 16 of the Champions League back in 2020 and were beaten across the two legs. They won 2-1 at their home ground with Erling Haaland grabbing a brace and producing his iconic celebration.

Back in France, PSG were able to overcome the German side, winning 2-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate before the entire team mocked Haaland and Dortmund by mimicking his celebration. The Bundesliga side have revisited that post, quoting it on Twitter alongside the caption: "Tastes like fine wine".

Dortmund have also beaten Atletico Madrid en route to the final and they will play at Wembley yet again. It was the scene of their 2013 loss to Bayern Munich, when Jurgen Klopp led them to within 90 minutes of the trophy.

Now it is Edin Terzic in charge and he's masterminded two surprise victories. Their win on home soil was owing to Niclas Füllkrug strike whilst at the Parc des Princes a Mats Hummels header was enough to beat the Parisians.

The Dortmund boss told DAZN at full-time: "Before the first game against PSV Eindhoven, we talked for the first time about how short the journey to London could be. Back then, many were still puzzled. Last season, we lost the championship at home on the last matchday.

"I'm happy that we can now give something back to the fans. We've grown with every game and eventually realised that we could be the team that surprises everyone in the end. Now I'm very happy to be in the final with my team."

Marco Reus, who played in the final 11 years ago, has announced he will leave the German club at the end of the season and now gets the chance to enjoy the fairytale ending.

He said: "Indescribable. After more than 10 years, I am in the final with Borussia again. Ousmane [Dembele] and Achraf [Hakimi] brought a tremendous amount of pace and we suffered a lot.

"How we won the game, no-one will ask tomorrow. Shots against the post won’t matter tomorrow. What counts is that Borussia Dortmund are in the final again. Nobody expected this. It's just incredible."

Goalscorer Hummels added: "I’ve scored far too few Champions League goals in my career, just five. Now is a good time to add to that number. Since the second match of the group stage, we've believed that we can prevail in every game - and I don't see why we shouldn't win at Wembley now.
