The EFL has lifted the transfer embargo placed on Cardiff City after they paid the first instalment of the fee owed to Nantes for the late Emiliano Sala.
Sala died in a plane crash in January 2019 after he was travelling from France to join the club who were then in the Premier League.
A three-window embargo was imposed by FIFA because Cardiff refused to pay the first part of the fee.
Sportsmail reported on Wednesday that Cardiff had paid the first £7m instalment of the £15m transfer fee and expected their embargo to be lifted.
As they predicted, they are now able to make transfers, which comes at an important time for the club who sit just two points outside of the Championship relegation zone in 20th place.
They have already recalled defender Mark McGuiness from his loan at Sheffield Wednesday to aid their battle to stay in the league.
Cardiff boss Mark Hudson will now hope he can strengthen his side further with new additions to Welsh club.
Sala tragically died in a plane crash over the Channel in January 2019 as he flew from saying his goodbyes in France to Wales.
Back in August the second tier side revealed they had been put under a transfer embargo after failing to pay the deal's first improvement.
Cardiff had been arguing Sala was not officially their player when the 28-year-old Argentine died in a plane crash over the English Channel in January 2019. He was travelling from France to join the club.
Cardiff, having failed to initially pay the first instalment, were put under a three-window embargo, which also affected the club.
They lost their appeal after a hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, following FIFA's ruling that they needed to pay Nantes the instalment.
