EXCLUSIVE: Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid 'at a standstill' over contract extension

Contrary to what has been reported by several media outlets, particularly in Spain, Flashscore is able to confirm that Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid are still a long way from reaching an agreement on any kind of contract extension.

At present, Vinicius Jr has been called up for Brazil's forthcoming World Cup qualifier in South America, while Real Madrid are preparing with Xabi Alonso at Valdebebas for the Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 14th.

However, this is not preventing either the club or the player from keeping an eye on the potential renewal of the Brazilian winger.

At the moment, however, negotiations, which have been ongoing for several weeks, are not going well for Real due to the player's wage demands.

According to the Real Madrid player's entourage, Flashscore is able to confirm that there is "no agreement yet" and that for the moment "everything is at a standstill" regarding his extension in the Spanish capital.

This exclusive information contradicts what has been published for several weeks in the Spanish press, where it is taken for granted that Vinicius Jr. and Real Madrid are on the verge of signing a new contract.

At the end of April, the player's entourage told Flashscore that the Brazilian's wage demands were far from what Real Madrid were offering. On the club's side, however, confidence remains high, with the implication that the player has a verbal agreement with the club.

The Brazilian's current deal at Real Madrid expires at the end of June in 2027.
