Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe was spotted wearing a fitness tracker during Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat against Leicester.
The United man played the full 90 minutes in the defeat at Old Trafford, which handed their arch-rivals City the Premier League title.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted that Tuanzebe was wearing a black strap on his wrist concealed by his sleeve throughout the match.
Tuanzebe's device appeared to be an Onyx ProKnit band created by American company WHOOP.
The WHOOP bands are said to be widely used by athletes while they offer personalized coaching to help them optimize training and sleep with device gathering data on muscle strain, heart rate and sleep metrics.
Some fans on social media hilariously thought that Tuanzebe was wearing an Apple Watch on his wrist.
One user wrote: 'Is Tuanzebe wearing an Apple Watch or am I losing it?'
Another fan joked: 'Would be so funny if someone called Tuanzebe and his Apple Watch started going off on the pitch.'
Although it is rare to see players wear these smart straps during games, Premier League and Championship clubs are now widely using similar technological devices to track the fitness of their squad and help them to make decisions.
Despite United's defeat, Tuanzebe was one of the best performers on Tuesday night for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men in what was just his second Premier League start of the season.
He could do nothing about Leicester's opening goal though, with Luke Thomas striking a superb volley past David de Gea in goal to break the deadlock in the first half.
Mason Greenwood restored parity before Caglar Soyuncu's thumping header claimed all three points for Leicester and all but confirmed their spot in next season's Champions League.

this is the outcome of less rotating the players and also the reserve players not working hard and perform.. thats the reason why ole hardly rotate or rest out main 11players.. cos the reserve not strong enough and sometimes might cause us bad result after sub them in.. hopefully our senior reserve players wil improve their performance and train hard on it.. look at how amad, elanga and even mata play so much better than others.. mata always ready to play.. i think we should put tuanzebe at RB, then loan or sell william. william not good in defence(especially body contact battle). then we get a new CB.. just my opinion on all this

Absolutely Terrible performance by the Midfield yesterday . The Defense was also shambolic as well. The young talented attackers were the only good thing about us . Elanga made a lot of runs (19 ) . Greenwood was obviously good. Amad was also good . But the Midfield. Terrible . The team were playing thrash until they scored the first goal . Then the team started playing better , and we got an equaliser . But in the second half , we fell apart . Matic played really well in the first half , but in the second half he was the worst player of the game . Van De Beek needs to realise that he's no longer playing for Ajax . This is ManUtd and he's playing in EPL. Here players need to have a good workrate no matter even if they are attackers . The first goal could have avoided. I agree with Owen , that the first goal should be somewhere blamed on Van De beek as well . He should have covered Nididi ( come in front of him ) , and tried to stop his run when Tuanzebe was deflected by Ichanacho . It was a perfect decoy and they succeed in that . People creticize Olé for not giving Van De Beek chance's' , but they should in w that Van De beek won't get a starting spot of Mctomanay , Bruno and Pogba with such mediocre performances . Olé has given him enough chances to prove him self as a starter , but he has failed . This season even Greenwood wasn't give enough play time in the start , but when he was given a chance , he showed his worth . Van De Beek isn't just putting enough . He is taking a lot of time to adapt to EPL .
