According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool has reportedly made a £37 million bid for Mexican rising star Gilberto Mora.

Gilberto Mora has been consistently linked with Liverpool following his breakout performance at the World Cup this summer. The 17-year-old became the second-youngest player to start a World Cup match, behind only Pelé. He will turn 18 later this month and has been considered a high-value transfer target for European clubs in recent months.

Mora made his debut for Tijuana in August 2024 at just 15 years old, providing an assist after coming off the bench in a 3-1 victory over Santos Laguna.

Since then, Mora has made 62 appearances for Tijuana, scoring 15 goals and providing 3 assists. His outstanding performances earned him his first call-up to the Mexican national team in the summer of 2025. As a member of last year's Gold Cup-winning squad, Mora became the youngest player to win an international trophy. Last month, he scored his first national team goal during an international break.

Though still early in his career, Mora continues to develop rapidly. Reports from Mexico consistently link him with the Premier League, with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United all said to be interested.

Last month, Globo Esporte reported, as cited by Sport Witness, that Liverpool had contacted Tijuana to inquire about Mora's contract status and transfer availability to understand potential deal terms.

Earlier this week, TUDN reporter David Faitelson reported that Liverpool had submitted a £37 million bid for the attacking midfielder following an initial inquiry. ESPN Mexico reporter León Lecanda subsequently reported that a record deal for Mora to join a top European club would be announced after he turns 18.

It remains unconfirmed whether these reports are accurate. Mora's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has not publicly disclosed her client's future plans.

In an interview with Mexican newspaper Record, Rafaela Pimenta stated: "Please understand that I will not comment on transfer rumours. I will not say anything about any player's transfer. Thank you very much for your understanding."

Mora's future therefore remains a subject of intense speculation. Mexican manager Rafael Márquez and national team teammate Raúl Jiménez both believe that Mora has the ability to succeed in Europe.

Rafael Márquez told ABC Noticias: "I think Gilberto is very talented, and as long as he is managed well, he will have a fantastic future. I think he can adapt to any team.

"He has the ability, and most importantly, he has the mentality to succeed. Wherever he goes, I am confident he will have many opportunities and a great career."

Raúl Jiménez told Claro Sports that Mora has the ability to play in any top league, but he could also consider stepping stones outside the Premier League initially.

Raúl Jiménez said: "He has the ability to play anywhere. But he can also take it step by step and grow gradually, as many players do.

"Some might go to a slightly less competitive league first before making the jump, like Argentine and Brazilian players who go to Dutch or Portuguese teams first.

"However, given his ability and potential, I think he would succeed even if he started in a top league.

"Where do I want him to go? Germany might be good—Borussia Dortmund could be an excellent fit, very well-suited to his style.

"Or Spain, where the league is more technical and sometimes less physical. I think he could adapt well there too."

Mora's future will continue to generate speculation until his next destination is officially confirmed. Although he has performed brilliantly in the Mexican league, whether Liverpool's reported interest materializes into a concrete transfer remains to be seen.
