Unai Emery is confident his Arsenal side can break Liverpool and Manchester City’s stranglehold at the top of the Premier League and achieve something ‘important’.
Victory over Sheffield United at at Bramall Lane on Monday night would take Arsenal up to third, despite their poor start to the season.
The manager’s decision to leave out Mesut Ozil in recent weeks has coincided with a seven-match unbeaten run, and although Emery is ‘really happy’ with his side’s progress, he believes their best is still to come.
‘We can be better in the table, we can play better each match,’ Emery said.
‘I am very happy with the club. I am really happy with the players. The last two, three, four weeks, every player — and Mesut Ozil — are working very well. We can be positive and can think we are going to do something important this year.’
Alexandre Lacazette could return after missing seven games with an ankle injury.
And while Arsenal have won only once on the road this season, Blades boss Chris Wilder is taking nothing for granted.
‘This is elite-level football and they have invested in quality,’ he said. ‘They have got some players who are quite tasty.’

Talk is cheap Unai. It is what you do on the pitch via proper selection that matters. Pick your best hands and stop being cowardly in away games. England is not Africa where teams win only their home games. Arsenal used to win more away games before your arrival, apart from the later disastrous years of Wenger. Inspire your team to play to win no matter the venue. That is what big and ambitious teams do. Remove Xhaka and play those that will not bring penalties and red cards. Manu attacked Liverpool yesterday, if it was at Emirates, Unai will freeze with fear and Liverpool will attack us as if they were playing at home. Poor coach please wake up from your poor tactics.

The problem with Arsenal is that Emery dont have a winning 11. He change too much week in week out.

I really don't understand why these arsenal fans are trashing Emery like that. Arsenal will be in third place after a win against Sheffield, how further up the table you think arsenal should be? Isn't the coach doing his job in having the team in top three? I know he had made some mistakes but the team had been doing ok so far and it can only get better. I want to see ozil player behind the sport three we have but it's not up to us it's the coach, as a coach myself and a teacher of sports I can only say that we stand on the outside assuming things about ozil and Emery but only they know what's really going on. good run so far this season and I just pray it will get better. love my teams Arsenal and Barcelona
