Chelsea news: Luis Enrique has broken his silence on a potential move for the vacant Chelsea head coach role
Reported Chelsea managerial target Luis Enrique has been coy on links between himself and the vacant role at Stamford Bridge. The former Spain men's national team and Barcelona head coach is said to be on a shortlist compiled by Todd Boehly and his hierarchy to find a successor to the recently dismissed Graham Potter.
Alongside Enrique is the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino as names to look out for, while Frank Lampard has been linked with a shock return as interim for the rest of the season. While the chaos of a manager hunt continues, one of the stages that follow comes in the form of discussions.
The 52-year-old was later spotted making his return to Spain by Spanish outlet Jijantes, where he was asked questions over his time away. The head coach played coy though, claiming he wasn't in London, but rather the Spanish island of Formentera when quizzed on his trip.
If you do the famous haka, I'll answer you," the coach quipped to the reporters when asked about his time in London. "I come from Formentera! It's wonderful, a paradise island." refusing to be drawn on any connection to the Chelsea job and whether he was involved in the reported talks.
It remains to be seen exactly whether Enrique will be in the running for the top job or if he will be the final option picked, however he isn't showing his cards at this stage.
