Micah Richards has explained how Luis Enrique was left unhappy with him for comments made about PSG on CBS Sports.

Richards and Gary Lineker were speaking on an episode of The Rest Is Football about how Enrique has moulded his side since the departure of Lionel Messi and Neymar, when Richards confessed: "I think he's just about speaking to me, because on CBS we have something called 'the bracket'. So when you get into the last eight you've got to pick who's going to go through.

"And PSG, last season, had someone tough, and I just was like, 'I just don't fancy PSG'. But he watches the show, CBS, he watches the clips. So on the show, he goes, 'I'm not very happy with you, Micah'. I was like, 'Why?! What's wrong?'. 'You said you were going to go out'.

"I was like, 'Oh my God!'." Never one to miss a beat in terms of adding comedic value to any situation, Lineker, straight-faced, responded: "I'll say one thing though on your behalf, Micah, at least he knew who you were," before Richards erupted with laughter before adding: "Hey, in the Champions League I'm known. I'm a different beast."

PSG had Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the 2023/24 Champions League tournament, which was played over two legs. The Spanish titans beat the Ligue 1 outfit 3-2 at the Parc des Princes, but PSG shocked the world by turning over Barcelona 4-1 at the Camp Nou in the reverse fixture to progress to the semis.

Unfortunately, the side's Champions League campaign ended there, when they were beaten 1-0 in each of the legs by Borussia Dortmund - who were in-turn bested 2-0 by Real Madrid in the final of the competition. PSG finished 15th in the Champions League's new league format after eight games, picking up four wins, one draw and three losses.

A 4-1 win over VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday away from home saw them qualify to the knockout phase playoffs, which will be played across the 11th, 12, 18th and 19th of February. There they will hope to progress to the round of 16 and continue their hunt for their first-ever Champions League title.

The French outfit will face Ligue 1 rivals Monaco or Brest in the playoffs, with the draw to decide their fate landing at 12pm on Friday. And if they are successful in their clash, they will go on to face either Liverpool or Barcelona in the round of 16.
