Luis Enrique guided Paris Saint-Germain to a first ever Champions League triumph and couldn't resist getting one last dig in after he was asked about Kylian Mbappe
Luis Enrique toasted the finest night in Paris Saint-Germain's history as the French giants were rewarded for ditching their 'galacticos' approach with a maiden Champions League title.
But the Spaniard, 55, couldn't escape into the Munich night without being asked about Kylian Mbappe. The French striker was PSG's poster boy, the jewel in their expensively-assembled crown, before running his contract down to join Real Madrid.
With the likes of Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi in tow, PSG still failed to get over the line in the Champions League.
But in a year where Mbappe and Real Madrid drew a blank in Europe, PSG ended their duck in spectacular fashion - and Enrique implied that the forward only has himself to blame for missing out on the celebrations.
“We would have loved to have him, but his decision was different,” Enrique said when he was quizzed about the Real Madrid star after watching his PSG team dismantle Inter Milan to claim a historic 5-0 win in Germany.
“We've shown that we have stars at the service of the team, and not the other way around.”
For his part, Mbappe, who cited a desire to win the games biggest prizes when joining Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer, immediately took to social media to congratulate his old club.
The 26-year-old wrote on his Instagram story: “The big day has finally arrived. Victory and in the club’s style. Congratulations PSG.”
Former Wolves midfielder Vitinha also appeared to aim a dig at the club's star-studded teams of old post-match by underlining how good PSG's current crop are. He told TNT Sports: “It means everything, it means everything.
“The fans are the main reason that we wanted to win this trophy, but we wanted to win it for a lot of reasons. It's our dream, it’s everyone's dream, it's my dream, and I'm glad we made it. It's incredible.
“It says a lot [about these players] – it's a very good team. The result is not by magic. We are a very good team, and now we're going to celebrate.”

Inter just prevented us from watching a great final. PSG vs Barca would have been more entertaining. Chaiiiii, PSG crushed them

Mbape also collected his first award in Madrid, winning European golden boot, and Laliga golden boot. If Real can give him a good CM midfielder, left back, he will add more next season. Next season will be big challenge

imagine how Mbappe distracted the team with self.. He fought Neymar, fought Messi...., he ensured it that the team turned against Neymar and Messi and sent them packing. He made the team and country and even the president pick his side and choose above the good of the country..and then..the snake turned against France and PSG. He Insulted the hands that fed and lifted him up. H collided with Madrid to shame and renege on his country and club. Same Mbappe that Messi and Neymar was pushed out by PSG for, turned against PSG, sued PSG... badmouth his own people...because he's lying in bed with Mafia Madrid. Now the supporters of Madrid are trying to defend for this treachery. Watch and see, Mbappe will soon bite and sting Madrid. it's turn by turn. For now, PSG has been vindicated on the pitch and in European. The so called farmer has farmed the EPL and farmed European...and mbbape taken his curse to Madrid. No trophy for Madrid

There’s really no dig at Mbappe, it’s just a clear indication that Mbappe wanted so bad to be the star of the team and let others do the hard work while he scores and takes the headlines… Meanwhile Enrique wanted a team machine.. play for the team and the team wins and you’ll still be celebrated along side your team mates.. And that exactly what PSG proved, in that team nobody is the star man or whatever, everyone plays for the team, defend, attack or score it doesn’t matter who does what.. the team comes first… exceptional players are allowed to show their skills in situations where it’s needed not for showmanship… likes of Doue, Dembele and Khvicha and Barcola, vitinha can do some magic here and there to create chances but all in all play for the team…

Enrique is arrogant and he will be humbled by the player he is criticizing.

Imagine saying mbappe was psg’s problem 😂 In which he took them to the final What about when Messi came they were out in R16 twice 😂🤌🏻 Why can’t you say aguero was man city problem cause I remember man city try hard wining it with aguero but when he left they later won why not say he was city’s problem why the hatred here ? 😏 What I know is that when it’s your time to win something nothing is stopping you don’t say someone was there problem assuming they were beaten you won’t have say that hatred aside please the coach is good they even reach semi last season before now so it’s there time to win 🏆 Congratulations 🎉 PSG 🏆

So, should MBAPPE stop doing his job? What about if other 10 players did their best too? Y'all should stop making it look like doing your core job is a bad thing
tell that boy to run back in defence, vini did it, benzema did it rodrygo did it. on every team he goes on he suck the team play out off the team and himself only perform. i have a feeling that madrid is going on a drought tour with this guy
