Luis Enrique saluted Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's character following his brace in Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Nantes.
The Georgia forward scored twice as PSG ran out 3-0 winners at Parc des Princes, moving four points clear of second-place Lens at the Ligue 1 summit.
Kvaratskhelia's fine form continued as he took his tally of goals in all competitions since March 11 to seven, with no player in the top five European leagues netting more during that period.
The 25-year-old also finished the game with team-high totals for successful dribbles (three), duels won (six) and shots on target (three), while only Desire Doue (eight) had more touches in the opposition box (seven).
"Khvicha has been at a high level all season," Luis Enrique told reporters during his post-match press conference.
"I'm not speaking about his quality because everyone knows about that. But I'm talking about his character, the way he defends, regardless of the fixture. So that is really important."
The PSG boss also underlined the significance of establishing breathing space between Lens with just five Ligue 1 games remaining this season.
"When you look at the season Lens have had, and the level they are at, it is clear they want to keep improving," he added.
"It was important for us to show our desire to win this league again. It will be difficult. We still have matches to play, and we have to play Lens away from home.
"I would say [our performance] was almost perfect. It was important to win this game with not much of the season left. I think we clearly deserved the victory. I'm pleased that we put in a very good performance."
