Manchester United were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Newcastle United at Old Trafford as the Reds rued their missed opportunities to score.
United failed to capitalise on a handful of glorious chances to win the game against Newcastle, as both Marcus Rashford and Fred were found guilty of missing golden opportunities to score for the Reds. Ten Hag's side failed to find a spark in front of their own fans, mustering only two shots on target during the match.
Fred somehow managed to put the ball wide when presented with an open goal, after Rashford did well to beat the offside trap and flick the ball past an onrushing Nick Pope. The 24-year-old then found the Brazilian, who opted to place the ball, yet his attempt agonisingly sailed past the post.
Rashford was also presented with a match-winning chance in the 95th minute, as Casemiro picked out the forward with a sumptuous cross, but he failed to find the net with his header on the edge of the six-yard box.
Both chances made the headlines, but there were three moments fans may have missed during the game.
Before kick-off, Ten Hag and Sir Alex Ferguson were seen embracing on the touchline. The former United manager warmly greeted the Dutchman before going on to the pitch to make presentations to David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo – both players he signed when in charge at Old Trafford.
The legendary manager gave specially-engraved silver plates to both Ronaldo, for 700 club goals, and David de Gea for his 500th appearance for the Reds. Although both Sir Alex and Ten Hag would have been upset with the result, the pair exchanged pleasantries before kick-off in a heartwarming moment for supporters watching on.
Regardless of his jaw-dropping miss, the quicker the Brazilian's first half is forgotten about the better. Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff bullied Fred at times during the game as he failed to make any kind of impact before the break.
The crowd were far from pleased with what they saw, and after just 37 minutes Old Trafford became audibly exasperated with the 29-year-old. Christian Eriksen's absence from the team was sorely missed by the United faithful inside the stadium, with many hoping the Dane is back in time for the Tottenham clash on Wednesday.
Newcastle were holding on during the closing stages of the match, with Eddie Howe even admitting after the match that he was relieved when the full-time whistle blew.
As the 90 minutes came to an end, five additional minutes were signalled by the fourth official on the touchline. Ten Hag then turned to the crowd, gesturing for them to get behind the team and cheer on their efforts to find a winning goal.
Sadly for the United supporters, it wasn't to be, but the moment showed the growing bond between the supporters and their new manager.

This old man should just leave Man United alone. Is he the owner?? Answer is No Him, the board and the Fans have too much influence on the coach that's why even if you brought Klopp or Guardiola nothing will work out. let the coach do the job and dont interfere in his business. yes he win laurels for the clubs and we happy for that and that's is history. he is spoiling every coach we bought but he is spoiling them with his outdated techniques Leave the coach Independently and let him express his style and technique
