Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is 'dreaming' of signing Erling Haaland this summer, with the Man City forward thought to be a 'huge fan' of Spain
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is eyeing up a 'dream' move for Manchester City forward Erling Haaland this summer - three-and-a-half years after losing out on his signature, it has been claimed.
Haaland had City and Real locked in a battle to sign him back in 2022, following another goal laden season at Borussia Dortmund. In the end, however, the Norway international chose City and the Premier League.
Since his move to Pep Guardiola's side, Haaland has cemented himself as Europe's top striker, with the 25-year-old scoring a remarkable 150 goals in 175 appearances for City. In that time, he has won the Premier League twice, the Champions League on one occasion, the Super Cup, the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
With City on course to reach the Carabao Cup final after a 2-0 semi-final first leg win at Newcastle on Tuesday, Haaland could be set to win every domestic and European trophy he has competed for at the Etihad Stadium. It's a stunning record for a player that doesn't turn 26 until July and still has a number of years at the top level.
However, there is talk that Haaland could leave City at the end of the season. According to Sky Sports, Real president Perez is 'dreaming' of bringing Haaland to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. It's added that Perez is still in contact with Haaland's representatives and agent Rafaela Pimenta.
While Haaland is tied to City until 2034 with a valuation exceeding £400million, Real remain determined and believe the former Molde striker would elevate them to new heights.
However, Los Blancos would need to offload Vinicius Jr, who has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Liverpool, before they could even contemplate pursuing Haaland.
The Norwegian is understood to be a 'huge fan' of Spain and views Real Madrid as the pinnacle destination of his career. Los Blancos are regarded as the most decorated and prestigious club in world football, consistently attracting the game's elite talents.
Discussing his future on the Rest is Football last month, Haaland said: "I also signed it because of conversations that I've had with the [club's] bosses and also the plan in the next years, and that was something I wanted to be a part of.
"And yeah, I'm calm, I'm focused, and I'm really happy here, so it's a really good place to be for development and also in the end, England, it's a football country, and I think it's the best place to play football."
Haaland, who has netted 26 goals in 29 appearances so far this campaign, will be looking to add to his tally when City take on arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Perez is not the owner of the footballing world that would have other club's players at will. If he wants Haaland, he will be ready to part with £1bn plus Mbape

I see in comments some man city fans don't know that in 2022, Haaland's first priority was Real Madrid but since Benzema was there he choose city because of playing time he would have got at Real at that time... so yes Haaland should come to Madrid now as there is no number 9 in here

Haaland Wouldn't thrive at madrid given the players he has to compete
Compete with who? Who is the centre forward that that he will compete with? In fact, there is no centre forward that will compete with this man. Playing second fiddle is the best bet any centre forward will hope for.
