Match Report

In their second pre-season friendly, Borussia Dortmund (BVB) settled for a 1-1 draw against Erzgebirge Aue.

This match followed BVB's 7-1 victory over DEW21 Dream Eleven last Friday. Players like Felix Nmecha and Soumaila Coulibaly were absent due to individual workload management, along with national team players who are expected to return from vacation later in July.

The game at Erzgebirgsstadion saw a quiet start, with both teams struggling to find rhythm early on. Aue had the first clear chance when goalkeeper Alex Meyer tipped Omar Sijaric's powerful shot over the bar in the 13th minute. Julian Brandt hit the wall with a free kick shortly after, but it was from a set-piece that BVB took the lead, with Elias Benkara heading in Brandt's corner in the 20th minute.

The first half continued with chances on both ends, including saves by Meyer and missed opportunities by Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson for Dortmund. The score remained 1-0 in favor of BVB at halftime.

After the break, coach Nuri Sahin made nine changes, leaving only Meyer and Tyler Meiser on the pitch from the first half. Despite several chances for Dortmund in the second half, including attempts by Paris Brunner and Franz Roggow, they failed to extend their lead. Aue capitalized on their chances, with Sean Seitz scoring the equalizer in the 82nd minute, securing a 1-1 draw.

The match concluded Dortmund's preparations before they embarked on their Asian tour, which starts with friendly matches against BG Pathum United (Thailand) and Cerezo Osaka (Japan) on Friday.
