Fàbregas: Morata must prove he wants to stay to remain on the team

At the press conference, Como head coach Fàbregas discussed Morata's future, as he still wavers between playing for Como and leaving the team.

Fàbregas stated that his relationship with Morata would not affect his coaching judgment: "Whether Morata likes it or not, he is not my brother or my friend. My current role is coach, and I must make decisions that are best for the team."

He also mentioned his personal relationships with other players: "Alberto Moreno and Sergi Roberto are my friends, and the kind of friends who might last a lifetime. Alberto Moreno's son even stayed at my house for a week, and my son and his son are also friends."

When asked about Morata's role in the team, Fàbregas emphasized that his decisions would not negate the player's value: "My job is to do what a coach should do and make the most correct choices for the club. Morata is someone who can help young players grow; he is always willing to open up and express his thoughts and feelings. He is a role model and a very caring person."

However, Fàbregas also pointed out that everyone needs to prove themselves again in the new season: "Everyone is starting from scratch now. Everything that happened last season is in the past. He must prove that he wants to stay here and continue to improve himself."

"Our goal is to reach the highest standards, but we also know where the team currently stands. Last year, expectations for us were high, and if his performance had been a little worse, the public perception might have been completely different. We know where we want to go and what we need to do, and public opinion will not affect our direction. But here, he must show sufficient level to continue to be a part of the team."
