FA Cup Final prize money as Crystal Palace and Man City face Wembley showdown

Crystal Palace are looking to win their first FA Cup against Manchester City at Wembley today but the financial rewards on offer continue to pale compared to the Premier League and Champions League

Crystal Palace face Manchester City in this afternoon’s FA Cup final at Wembley looking to lift the famous trophy for a first time.

And while prize money is far from the priority, the winners are in line to pocket £3.91million should they take the final step at Wembley with the beaten team earning £2.91milllion for their Cup run.

That may pale in significance compared to the financial rewards on offer in the Premier League and Champions League, which now both exceed £100m for the winners, but for supporters of the winning team this evening the money will not matter.

And should Palace, who have lost in their previous two final appearances, win they would earn themselves a spot in next season’s Europa League, which would boost their coffers by millions more depending on how they would fare in the competition.

If City win and secure a top five spot in the Premier League, that Europa League position will be passed down to seventh place in the top flight with eighth taking the sport for the Conference League.

Palace and City have both made £1.91m so far having joined the competition in the third round.

This season’s Cup began back on August 2 last summer with the extra preliminary round and the 208 winners of those ties banked £1,125 while the losers received a payment of £375.
