The 2021-22 FA Cup will offer up a new page in the history book of football's oldest cup competition.
While Leicester City added a new name to the trophy with their shock win last season, 23 of the last 26 editions have been won by the same five clubs - Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
With the third round kicking off in January, GOAL has what you need to know about the favourites, underdogs and outsiders to lift the historic trophy in 2022.
Despite dominating in the Premier League and League Cup over much of the past decade, Manchester City have won the FA Cup just once in the last 10 seasons - as part of their domestic treble in 2019. Nevertheless, they are the clear 10/3 (4.33) favourites to go all the way this time around, with their dominant performances at the top of the Premier League suggesting they are more than capable of fighting on all fronts once again.
Having stood between City and Champions League glory in last season's final, Chelsea are priced at 6/1 (7.0) to also beat them to FA Cup glory this campaign. The Blues have taken part in four of the last five finals but finished on the winning side just once, losing out to Arsenal and Leicester in the last two seasons. Nevertheless, Thomas Tuchel has shown himself a strong tactician in cup competitions and is more than capable of bringing this trophy back to Stamford Bridge for a ninth time.
Fighting neck-and-neck with both Manchester City and Chelsea in the Premier League, Liverpool are unsurprisingly close behind at 7/1 (8.0) in the FA Cup betting stakes. Jurgen Klopp has been accused of not taking this competition seriously enough in the past, having never gone beyond the fifth round in his six seasons on Merseyside. With less squad depth at his disposal than Guardiola and Tuchel, the German has usually focused his resources on success in the Champions League and Premier League. Nevertheless, the Reds would no doubt love to see this trophy return to Anfield for the first time since 2006.
Although well adrift of their historic rivals in the league this season, Manchester United are priced at the same 7/1 (8.0) odds in the FA Cup. With the Premier League title an unrealistic dream, Ralf Rangnick's star-studded squad will be determined to salvage their season with some silverware and are strong contenders for FA Cup glory.
Arsenal have proved themselves the undisputed champions of this competition recently, winning four of the last eight editions to bring their total haul to 14 wins - two more than the closest competitor. Given their love affair with the cup and their promising form under Mikel Arteta, odds of 12/1 (13.0) offer plenty of temptation on them bringing the trophy back to the Emirates once again this season.
While north London rivals Tottenham have not lifted this trophy since 1991, the Antonio Conte factor sees them priced at that same 12/1 (13.0) price to bring that long wait to an end this season. The Italian boss won this competition as manager of Chelsea back in 2018 and is more than capable of delivering the same success with a talented Spurs side.
Having upset the odds to win the FA Cup for the first time in their history last season, Leicester City can be backed at 14/1 (15.0) to make lightning strike twice by retaining their trophy this season. Out of the Europa League and EFL Cup, and enduring a difficult campaign in the Premier League, Brendan Rodgers' team will be focusing plenty of attention on cup success this year.
Still struggling to win over the Everton fans following his controversial appointment in the summer, Rafa Benitez is available at 20/1 (21.0) to give them something to celebrate with a first FA Cup title since 1995. The former Liverpool boss won this trophy in memorable fashion back in 2006 but faces a tough challenge to replicate that success at Goodison Park.
Former Everton manager David Moyes looks like potentially better value at those same 20/1 (21.0) odds given his West Ham side's impressive performances over the past couple of seasons. The Hammers last tasted FA Cup glory way back in 1980 but will consider themselves genuine contenders this season.
Having etched his name in FA Cup legend with his match-winning display for Liverpool back in 2006, Steven Gerrard is priced at 33/1 (34.0) to win the competition as manager of Aston Villa. The former Rangers manager has made a strong start to life at Villa Park and could be the man to end their 65-year wait for an eighth FA Cup win.
Fellow Premier League sides Brighton, Leeds, Newcastle, Southampton and Wolves are all available at those same 33/1 (34.0) odds to beat the usual suspects to the FA Cup, with no team outside the top flight having won the competition since West Ham in 1980.
Crystal Palace seem generously priced at 50/1 (51.0) compared to some of their Premier League rivals, with manager Patrick Vieira having won the cup four times during his illustrious playing career with Arsenal.
