Bayern Munich edged closer to the Bundesliga title following a dominant 5-0 rout of relegation-threatened St. Pauli.
Match Report
Vincent Kompany's side moved 12 points clear at the summit with five games remaining, while they took their goal tally for the Bundesliga season to a staggering 105, setting a new record for a single German top-flight campaign, eclipsing their total of 101 from 1971-72.
Bayern took just nine minutes to break the deadlock at Millerntor-Stadion, with Jamal Musiala heading home from Konrad Laimer's cross.
Musiala also hit the post just before the half-hour mark, before the visitors gave themselves breathing space with two quickfire goals after the restart.
First, Leon Goretzka volleyed in on 53 minutes and, just 75 seconds later, turned provider by feeding Michael Olise for a cool finish.
It was 4-0 in the 65th minute. Musiala also grabbed an assist as he slipped a pass through for Nicolas Jackson, who neatly slotted past Nikola Vasilj in the hosts' goal.
Jackson then turned provider two minutes from time, stealing possession inside the penalty area and teeing up Raphael Guerreiro for a fifth goal.
Goretzka saw a last-gasp header ruled out for offside following a VAR review, but Bayern are now just four points away from completing a successful title defence.
Data Debrief: Bayern blitz Bundesliga goalscoring record
It was a thoroughly dominant display by the visitors, who outperformed their 3.37 xG from 20 shots, while enjoying a whopping 77.1% of possession.
Bayern have now won 11 of their last 12 meetings with St. Pauli, whose only triumph during this span was a 2-1 success back in February 2002.
Musiala was one of three players to register a goal and an assist (also Jackson and Goretzka), while the 23-year-old created the joint-most chances (three), completed 100% of his dribbles (3/3) and competed in the most duels (12).
