Fabio Capello: Lionel Messi played walking until the semis

Fabio Capello, the veteran Italian coach, spoke about Lionel Messi ahead of the World Cup final in Qatar.

“The best always get to the final, and the best are Messi and Mbappe,” said Capello.

The former coach of Real Madrid, Juve, Milan, England and other sides, said: “They are who win the games, they are who make the difference, it will be difficult for both to win it - I don’t know how it will finish.”

On Messi’s semi-final performance against Croatia he added: “Messi had a great game” and on France against Morocco he added: “Mbappe came twice close to goal, two defections, and they won.”

However the most interesting comment was about Messi. “I was surprised in the last game, before no, before he walked around on the pitch, but the quality he has is very big.”
