Fans in stitches over Grimsby’s ‘elite level trolling’ of Man Utd… and even local chippy is getting in on the banter

FANS have been loving Grimbsy Town's trolling of Manchester United on social media.

The Mariners overcame the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup second round in a marathon penalty shoot-out.

United came from two goals down to force spot kicks, but could not avoid the upset as Bryan Mbeumo missed the vital penalty.

The win was celebrated into the early hours of the following morning by Grimsby fans and players.

But they have not stopped there as the social media team left fans in stitches with their continued trolling of United.

Ahead of their League Two fixture against Bristol Rovers, they announced the team in brilliant fashion.

They mimicked the now infamous picture of United manager Ruben Amorim fiddling with his tactics board as they ran through the changes.

And even a local chip shop has continued to poke fun at the Premier League side.

Above their menu it read: "Cod, Haddock, Manchester United (All come battered)."

One posted: "Oh no you didn’t? This is elite-level trolling."

A second wrote: "Some clubs are classy and respectful to fellow clubs and their managers. Then there is Grimsby Town."

A third commented: "Please in all you do this season, always remember to cook Man Utd every match day."

A fourth said: "Grimsby is really milking their win over United."

Another added: "Fair played man, whatever.

"This is the biggest moment of your history."

Amorim had multiple images of him playing with the tactics board photoshopped on social media.

This included him drawing on an Etch A Sketch board while others showed him playing popular children's board games like Guess Who and Operation.

United just about bounced back from the midweek humbling with a 3-2 win over Burnley this afternoon thanks to a controversial late Bruno Fernandes penalty.
