Fans have mocked Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr and have branded them as shameless for allegedly lying about the total amount of trophies won.
A lot of football fans are keen to know more about Al Nassr and the club’s history after they recently announced the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Since the arrival of the five time Ballon d’Or winner was confirmed, Al Nassr have seen their social media following grow in millions.
However, some fans have spotted what they think is a mistake on Al Nassr’s Instagram bio.
According to their official Instagram account, Al Nassr has won 17 Saudi League titles. But fans have pointed out that according to Wikipedia, they only have nine.
In addition, Al Nassr’s Instagram bio states that the club are two time Asian champions, but on Wikipedia, they have never won the AFC Champions League, only coming second once in 1995.
Fans were quick to comment on social media.
One said: “Al Nassr claiming trophies they didn't win, Ronaldo claiming goals he didn't score. An ordained union.”
Another wrote: “LOOOOL WHAT A SHAME!”
Ever since Ronaldo’s transfer to Al Nassr was confirmed, the majority of fans have been waiting for the moment the 37-year-old will make his debut.
However, they will have to wait slightly longer as he still has one match left of his two game suspension placed upon him by the English Football Association during his time with Manchester United.
There have been reports that Ronaldo’s contract included a clause to help Saudi Arabia in their bid to host the 2030 World Cup. Something Al Nassr strongly denied.
Their statement said: “Al Nassr FC would like to clarify that contrary to news reports, Cristiano Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr does not entail commitments to any World Cup bids. His main focus is on Al Nassr and to work with his teammates to help the club achieve success.”
Do you think Ronaldo will do well in Saudi Arabia? Let us know in the comments.
