matthijs de ligt won the award in 2018 even when he wasn't a household name in the footballing world.........but with his exploits in the uefa champions league last season as captain of young but very matured AJAX side coupled with his performances domestically and in the end captaining his side to a domestic double before leaving for juventus,,,,I think he is most deserving of the award since he is still under 21..... joao Felix did also have an amazing season with benfica last season fetching him that enormous price tag,,, a hype his gradually living up to at athletico Madrid and he was pretty good in the uefa Europa league last season but the champions league is always the champions league and that gives DE LIGT and edge..... JAYDON SANCHO another strong candidate who was really amazing last season with borussia Dortmund and also starts and performs amazingly for ENGLAND but in the end last season,,, his Dortmund side messed it all up.....Solid individual performance but nothing more than that....... Phil foden is also very good but he doesn't start for the CITIZENS Gianluigi donarruma is an amazing stopper but his Milan side didn't play European football last time out Samuel chukueze though......same level as those other guys for me.....but the problem is people started to see him late last season plus he didn't play European football and didn't win anything...... his time is definitely in the future if he continues that way VINICIUS JR another player whose game play and talent is so pleasing on the eye......the dude maked me get headaches whenever he touched the ball against Barcelona last season but injury ultimately put a premature end to what was an amazing debut season for the young Brazilian my pick..... 1... MATTHIJS DE LIGT 2... JAYDON SANCHO 3... JOAO FELIX 4... JUNIOR VINICIUS 5... GIANLUIGI DONARUMMA
