Former Real Madrid midfielder Christian Karembeu is confident that the club's new signing Ferland Mendy will fulfil his potential at Los Blancos.
The Frenchman didn't hesitate to label his compatriot as the new Roberto Carlos; a player who revolutionised Madrid's left-back position.
"I think Ferland Mendy's signing for Real Madrid is a very good opportunity both for the team and for the player, as well as for Zinedine Zidane's new project," he told L'Equipe.
"Mendy can't only play on the left, but also he can also do it on the right.
"He could become the next Roberto Carlos or the next Marcelo."
