A thriller for Milan as Nkunku gets the assist from Fofana and scores in 90'. The Viola share 1pt with the guest at the end of the game.
Match Report
AC Milan dropped more points in the race for the Serie A title, as Christopher Nkunku's 90th-minute leveller salvaged a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The result leaves Massimiliano Allegri's side two points adrift of league leaders and rivals Inter, who face fellow Scudetto hopefuls Napoli later on Sunday.
Milan came close to opening the scoring 20 minutes in, but Christian Pulisic's close-range shot was saved by David de Gea after good work from Niclas Fullkrug in the build-up.
Pulisic then rifled a left-footed drive just wide of the right-hand post soon after, before Cher Ndour saw his header comfortably gathered by Mike Maignan at the other end.
Fiorentina started the better of the two sides after the interval as Fabiano Parisi stung the palms of Maignan, with the hosts' persistence rewarded in the 66th minute of the game.
After Robin Gosens had gone close with a header, Pietro Comuzzo put Fiorentina into the lead, as he rose highest to glance Albert Gudmundsson's corner into the bottom corner.
But just as it looked as though Milan were set for a second league defeat of the season, substitute Nkunku drilled in at the near post after Youssouf Fofana's neat pass in behind the defence.
Fiorentina almost snatched all three points in second-half stoppage time, but Marco Brescianini hit the crossbar before Moise Keane's attempt was repelled by Maignan.
Data Debrief: Maignan magic bails Milan out
Milan have now won 10 points from losing positions in Serie A this season, with only Cagliari (11) recovering more. Yet, that could have been a different story if it was not for their captain Maignan, who produced a sensational display.
The France international made six saves in the contest, two of which came in the closing stages to not only preserve Milan's point, but also extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to 18 matches, with the Rossoneri last having a longer stretch without defeat between January 2022 and September 2022 (22 games).
It was a tightly contested affair, with Milan edging the expected goals (xG) battle with a total of 1.8 from their 13 shots, though only three of which were on target, compared to Fiorentina's 1.48 from their 20 attempts following their late flurry.
