An almighty scramble for tickets has seen the first batch of seats for Tottenham's first game at their new stadium sold out within minutes.

The first wave of tickets for the clash against Crystal Palace, which will take place on on April 3, went on sale at 10am on Monday and swathes of fans flocked to the website to secure their place for the curtain raiser.

Around 9,000 tickets were sold within the first hour with supporters eager to have a seat for the historical first match at the stunning 62,000-capacity arena.

Tickets for the opening game against Palace have already been advertised for as much as £1,200 for a pair on social media.

Re-sale websites are also looking to cash in, with StubHub selling a pair of tickets for £1,100 for the Premier League fixture.

Spurs are aware of some people trying to sell-on their tickets for the first game at a huge profit and have warned of severe action.

Eleven years after the project was first announced, Spurs are almost ready to host their first Premier League game at the stadium after getting through their first planned test event without a hitch.

Tottenham legends will play a game against Inter Milan on March 30 in a second and final test event.
