Football's approach to concussion treatment is set to undergo sweeping changes as the International Football Association Board considers proposals to introduce a 'concussion substitute', when a player is treated for head injuries.
According to The Athletic the board, which will meet on October 23, will hold discussions over introducing a mandatory 10-minute test for players with concussion, which would take place off the field of play.
The current rules state that a player who suffers potential concussion must undergo a three-minute assessment on the touchline by medical staff to work out whether they are fit to continue. Extending that time frame would allow for extensive assessment to be done on players.
The IFAB are expected to appoint a 'task force' to find solutions as to who should carry out these assessments, as well as work out how long a player should be sidelined before returning to training.
Formal recommendations to change the game's rules can be made in December, and IFAB chiefs are hoping to have a protocol in place by then.
Football is looking to the example set by the NFL and Rugby in regards to the treatment of concussion injuries, which is widely acknowledged as a growing problem in the game.

If they go down holding head make them leave the pitch for 10 minutes hopefully will stop all the play acting.

It's about time - football is so far behind other sports on concussion.

Might stop some play acting if an independent doctor has to check these actors out

Sad to say I can see clubs trying to exploit this. Say Ronaldo goes off claiming to have concussion when in fact he's fine they could put on say Dybala with fresh legs to run at tiring defenders then put Ronaldo back on after 10 minutes rest( only using these players as examples).

If you are going to use this you will need to have an independent doctor at every game. Players must be protected it might stop play acting but it might also be open to abuse. Oh, I have used all my subs and need to change the game with 10 mins left go down and claim a head injury. Get another player on to change the game. Imagine the out cry if that player scores.

How about one player from the other side going off for the period??

Decisions would be so much simpler to make if the game wasn't so rife with cheats.

I disagree with this rule makers ,it's taking to long to conclude wether a player is fit or not.10 minutes are too much to conclude that ,atleast they could have increased it from those 3 to 5 minutes. The reason I totally disagree with this is that when they put 5, they end -up reaching to 6 and some seconds. so ,what is going to be expected from those 10 minutes is to reach to 12 minutes and cost about quarter of the game's time. what a football game will be like that?.imagine you're watching night knockout game of UEFA champions league then game picks 3 of those injuries that costs 30 minutes and game also end draw and goes to extra time of 30 minutes and pick one more of 10 minutes. this means game will take over 3hours and will cost about quarter day. * 90min+maybe 5min+30min =full time of the game *30min+maybe 3min +10 min=full time of extra time GAME DURATION :168 min =2HRS:48 min plus 15 minutes of break time.

It's nice though, absolutely amazing. But what if a team who is in need of a Goal has already made three substitutions, and one of their player pretends to have this CONCUSSION thing, what will happen if the Football FA eventually finds out he lied just to make sure an emergency player enters
