The councillor of sports for Serie B side Como has revealed Jack Wilshere remains 'more than a target' for them.
The 30-year-old is currently training with his former side Arsenal, and even joined them on their warm-weather training camp in the UAE a fortnight ago.
Wilshere is keeping his fitness up having failed to find a club since leaving Bournemouth at the end of last season.
His long wait for a new club could soon come to an end, with Como chief Paolo Annoni claiming Wilshere is 'more than a target.
According to Football Italia, Anoni met the club's general manager Carlalberto Ludi during an event and he has revealed some of the things they talked about in a Facebook post.
Anoni wrote: 'He (Ludi) revealed a few interesting news, including a new signing who is more than just on target: Jack Wilshere, a former Arsenal player.'
Wilshere trained with Como last summer and was close to joining them. But the move failed to materialise as he is a non-EU player.
The former England international has impressed during training with Arsenal but Mikel Arteta confirmed last month there are no plans to offer the midfielder a short-term deal.
'I was very clear with the situation with Jack and the role that he was going to have being around here. We continue the same way,' said the Gunners boss.
Wilshere has not played football competitively since making a substitute appearance in the first leg of the 2021 play-off semi-final between Bournemouth and Brentford.
He made 18 appearances in all competitions in the second half of last season for the Cherries.
Wilshere spent two decades at Arsenal before leaving for West Ham in 2018.

Who told papa Wengz to sell Gnabry then? It's his fault only and you're telling me that we did Backhand Business? Gnabry wants to return to Arsenal anyways.... And what about the 10-2 humiliation when Wenger got pissed with him?
Bayern used underhand techniques to get him out of Arsenal. That's what happened, Wenger knew he was a good player before anyone else. End of discussion.

Hey bro do you think korenke will do to us, what he did to La Rams?
I heard they won the Super Bowl. Well, only time will tell although it's been almost 1.5 decades since he took over Arsenal we've made more good signings recently than before. This summer could give an indication.

Because he's an Arsenal Legend. Don't you remember his game in the UCL vs Barça?
Gnabry was a good player for us, but u didn't mind. U did some backhand business with Hoffenheim and got him. Now u suddenly care about what Wilshere did against Barcelona. Serge Gnabry did more against Tottenham.

if this was Africa we will think otherwise, Wilshere is better than some midfielder we have on the Arsenal team

He's free, u can get him in for nothing. Why are u not doing it?
