Former Bayern star Ze Roberto, 47, says he has a BETTER physique than Ronaldo

Most footballers would struggle to match Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to looking shredded - especially those approaching their mid thirties - but one former player believes he has bettered the Manchester United star four years into his retirement.

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Ze Roberto - who hung up his boots at the tender age of 43 - is focused on looking after his body after calling time on his career and has been showing off his incredible toned torso and regularly posts photos to his Instagram followers of his strict workout routines and healthy lifestyle.

Now 47, Ze Roberto has revealed the secrets to his ripped physique, explaining that he no longer drinks and ensures he eats a healthy diet and gets regular sleep.

'I have no vices. I don't drink alcoholic beverages, I don't smoke, I eat very well, I sleep well,' he said, as reported by the Sun.

'I have my family, which is my greatest security. I think those are important factors to reach the age I reached and still continue playing at a high level.'

Ronaldo is arguably the benchmark for most footballers when it comes to fitness and physical appearance. The Portuguese superstar regular puts his body to the test and is always seen eating health foods at United's Carrington training ground and has other unique rituals to keep fit.

But Ze Roberto is not fazed by Ronaldo's body and believes his is superior - mainly because he managed to maintain it while playing football well into his forties.

'Today I would say that I have a better physique, because I played until I was 43 years old,' he added.

'If he does, I will say it is him.'

Ze Roberto won the Champions League and LaLiga early in his career with Real Madrid before winning four Bundesliga titles and four German Cups with Bayern Munich.

He also won the Copa America twice with Brazil, who he picked up 84 caps with - playing at two World Cups.
