France Football decided to create a new trophy specifically dedicated to goalkeepers: the Yachine Trophy.
After the creation of the Women's Golden Ball and the Kopa Trophy (best under-21 player) in 2018, France Football launches the Yachin Trophy this year.
The latter will reward the best goalkeeper of the world during the Ballon d'Or ceremony on December 2nd.
Lev Yachine, who died in 1990 at the age of 60, still remains the only goalkeeper to have managed to lift the Ballon d'Or (1963).
A list of ten nominated will be revealed on October 21 by France Football.
