N'Golo Kante avoided punishment for turning up late to international duty when Didier Deschamps provided the perfect response.
A train delayed caused Kante to arrive almost 45 minutes late to France's training base, but when he told Deschamps, the national coach responded: 'But N'Golo, you are faster than the train.'
The Chelsea midfielder played in both the UEFA Nations League defeat to Holland and the 1-0 friendly victory over Uruguay.
The loss to a reinvigorated Dutch side means France will not feature in next summer's Nations League semi-finals.
This is not the first time Kante's coaches have made light of his high-energy on-field style.
During Leicester's title-winning season in 2016, coach Steve Walsh joked that: 'We play three in midfield - Danny Drinkwater in the middle and Kante either side.'
Kante recently penned a new £290,000-a-week, five-year contract to remain at Stamford Bridge, another step on his astronomical rise.
The 27-year-old was plucked from relative obscurity at Caen in 2015 and helped them to a premier League title before moving to Chelsea a year later and repeating the feat.
he has also won 36 caps for France and was an instrumental part of the side that won the World Cup this summer.

Any coach will be delighted to have Kante play at the heart of the midfield, because his energy is unstoppable. I think this is where Sarri is making a big mistake... he has pushed Kante forward because of his pace and energy, undermining the fact that his ability comes alive in the defensive midfield role. It's true that Jorginho is a talented deep playing midfielder with good distribution skills, but he gets overrun when he faces tough midfielders as it was against Liverpool. The best option should be to play Kante alongside or just a little bit behind Jorginho to remove the pressure from the later and create better cover for the defense. I just hope Sarri changes his position before Kante's new role affects his true capacity negatively.
