Tottenham’s commanding 3-0 victory at Everton propelled them to third place in the Premier League after nine matches, though manager Thomas Frank insists his team are not title contenders this season.
Micky van de Ven scored twice, with Pape Matar Sarr adding a late goal, as Spurs became the first team to beat Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium this campaign.
Tottenham’s impressive start has been fuelled by their strong performances on the road. The north Londoners remain unbeaten away from home, winning four games and drawing one.
Currently, Spurs sit just one point behind second-placed Bournemouth and five behind leaders Arsenal—a promising start for Frank since taking over as manager in the summer.
Reflecting on the win, Frank said, “We are in the beginning of building something, [I am] very happy with a lot of things … defensive side of it, mentality, set pieces. But I think there's a bit we need to work on, especially offensively to be more free floating still. It's a long season ahead.
"Very happy with going away from home after two away games in the Champions League …that's a big part of it. But to continue performing day in, day out is a challenge which we embrace and want to do. So who knows, but I need to take it one game at a time.”
When asked if Spurs could compete for the title, he replied, “No. I think there's probably a few teams that are ahead of us. I think it's fair to say that I'm only thinking of one day, one game at a time."
Tottenham travel to Newcastle for a fourth round EFL Cup tie on Wednesday, before entertaining Chelsea in a London derby in the Premier League on Saturday.

Spurs don’t have the players to challenge for trophies this season and going forward, they don’t have consistent today performances good enough but tomorrow they going to lose against a bottom team

You are on the right path, managing your expectations; unlike Juventus' coach who talks too much, and then was sacked.

I believe in the project, we are not contenders right but we should keep focused just around the rich places. And spurs looks totally different from that of postecoglu

In every team, you need a player that brings momentum from the beginning of every match. For example matches that Christain Romero is not involved, Tottenham always lack mementum, but in a match against Eveton yesterday, Vicky Ven De Ven was equal to the task.
