In recent years, Barcelona have come under severe criticism for their poor handling of transfers. The departure of Luis Suarez, in particular, comes to mind when the Uruguayan was frozen out of the first team dynamics until he agreed to leave.
A similar situation could now repeat itself with Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch midfielder is being pressurised to leave the club against his will and is unhappy with how the situation is being handled.
Earlier on Sunday, de Jong liked a comment on an Instagram post speaking about his departure. The comment read (h/t FCB World), "I dislike the way we have handled Frenkie's situation."
Though he later removed the like, this is a direct message from de Jong. It is clear that the midfielder wants to continue at the club but is being forced out.
In recent weeks, de Jong has strongly been linked with a move to Manchester United. Though it would mean a reunion with his former manager Erik ten Hag, the Dutchman is hesitant to join the Red Devils because of the lack of Champions League football.
Barcelona already have an agreement in place with the Premier League side worth €75 million plus €10 million in bonuses. However, there is no agreement between the player and the club yet.
Last season, the 25-year-old played 32 games for the Catalans in La Liga, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
Frenkie de Jong is currently in the United States with the squad preparing for pre-season. It remains to be seen if the Dutchman leaves in the summer or stays for another year. Nevertheless, the handling of his situation can be described as nothing short of disgraceful.

am still thinking how the old manager give out so much contract to everyone. this is business. Barcelona can't pay much again. so please reduce your pay or leave to where you feel is right for you.

Stupid? No Barcelona FC is being economical with the truth about selling Frankie De Jong to balance their books. They don't want to pay the money they owe him, but they are buying expensive players Where is the money coming from if they don't have money to pay the player ?
They have the money, they just don’t believe it’s worth it to pay him that much in wages that’s why they wanna sell him. But if they can’t sell him, he will get paid so don’t worry

When you leave your greatest ever player in floods of tears because you can't afford to keep him, then spend £40m on 33 year old Lewandowski, £52m on Raphinha and £50m on Ferran Torres, plus wages for Kessie, Christensen, Aubameyang, Depay within the same year... FC Barcelona 🙃

and you want to sell De Jong by force to avoid paying him his differed salaries

Same way they have frozen Depay out of the team to force him out of the club. Only f00lish and shortsighted players will sign for Barca

You are just a biased dummy! Why didn't you talk about his £17m in wages he allowed Barca to postpone out of love for the club?? You Barca fans are too poor with your judgements! Alway blabbing rubbish with sentiments!

Myself I don't like the way they're treating him right now after he contributed to their UCL qualification. And United as usual, are as unreasonable and shortsighted as they've always been. You desperately want a player who desperately doesn't want to join you. Now, if he ever joins you dragging his feet, chances are that he'll be unhappy and unwilling to give you his best! And then to ruin a young promising career with your usual foolery. Allow the boy to enjoy his hard work over the years please!

I love Barcelona as a fan, but am against the way in which they handle the situation of their players when it comes to the matter of transfer.

Though I'm a fan of Barcelona, but their handling of transfers of their individual players are not good. Rakitic and Suarez were both sold against their will from Barcelona and now they want to do the same with De Jong. SHAME‼🙈
