Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho appears to have his days numbered at Old Trafford but fans are waiting eagerly to learn where he will be playing next season
Argentina star Alejandro Garnacho wants to stay in the Premier League if he leaves Manchester United this summer, it has been claimed. The 20-year-old isn't thought to be in Ruben Amorim's plans. with United expected to cash in as they rebuild their squad under the Portuguese.
Napoli and Chelsea were both linked with January moves for the South American, who played his 100th game for United last season. Chelsea are thought to be among the interested parties this summer as well, after the Blues opted against a permanent move for United loanee Jadon Sancho.
According to The Mail, staying in the Premier League is "a priority" for Garnacho. Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are the three English sides said to be in the mix.
Napoli are also understood to still be keen on bringing Garnacho to Serie A, as they look to strengthen a side which won the Scudetto last season. They have money to spend, having sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain in January.
Back in May, Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid were also named as potential suitors. Leverkusen have appointed former United boss Erik ten Hag as their new manager, potentially leading the way for a reunion with Garnacho.
United are believed to be ready to listen to offers for any squad member as Amorim gears up for a first summer in charge. Garnacho's future was already the subject of significant speculation, with the youngster appearing furious at being benched for the Europa League final.
"Up until the final, I’ve played every round, and today to play 20 minutes… I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens after,” he said.
Mirror Football understands Amorim has already told Garnacho to look for a new club. In the meantime, the Red Devils have made their first new addition with Matheus Cunha joining from Wolves and continue to be heavily linked with Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
It remains to be seen whether Napoli's interest in Garnacho will remain as strong after their swoop for Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian international has joined on a free transfer after a decade in the Premier League.
Napoli already have one of Garnacho's former team-mates on their books in the form of Scott McTominay. The midfielder joined from Manchester United last summer and scored 12 Serie A goals in his first season in the competition - with Romelu Lukaku, another ex-United man, the only Napoli player to score more.
