Alejandro Garnacho is being targeted by Napoli once again in the summer transfer window after Ruben Amorim made it clear that he doesn't have a future at Manchester United

Alejandro Garnacho’s exit from Manchester United could be sealed quickly after a falling out with Ruben Amorim at the end of the season. Garnacho was left out of the squad for United’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League campaign.

The 20-year-old winger attracted interest from Napoli and Chelsea in the January transfer window. And after admitting his frustration at being benched for United’s Europa League final defeat by Spurs, it seems a summer move is on the cards.

United have made every player available for sale in the summer transfer window following a miserable campaign which saw them finish in 15th place and fail to qualify for the Champions League thanks to a defeat in Bilbao. Mirror Football understands that Ruben Amorim has told Garnacho that he does not feature in his plans for next season – and United have already taken steps towards selling the winger.

The i Paper reports that Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna will soon meet with United officials to begin the negotiation process over Garnacho. The Italian champions saw a £40million bid rejected in January and have been told that United value the Argentina international at closer to £70m.

It is understood that a compromise closer to £50m could be reached, while Napoli are also trying to sign Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer following his exit from Manchester City. Napoli secured the title under Antonio Conte, but are braced for a summer of change, with the ex-Chelsea boss set to step aside.

Garnacho's unhappiness at United was obvious on Sunday, with the Argentine the only person not to applaud Ruben Amorim's post-match address to supporters.

Despite his situation, Garnacho will now have to go on Manchester United’s post-season tour of south east Asia. "No, Garnacho is a Manchester United player who is not in the squad today. But he continues to be a Manchester United player,” Amorim insisted on Sunday when asked if he had played his final game for the club.

"Everybody is going because we have to meet our fans and we have to give something to our fans on the other side of the world."

Speaking after the Europa League final defeat, Garnacho gave a brutally honest assessment of United’s season and his own feelings. “It’s hard for everyone," he said. “The season was s***, both now losing the final tonight, and in the league, where we didn’t beat anyone, that’s the truth.

"Up until the final, I’ve played every round, and today to play 20 minutes… I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens after.”

The winger is under contract with United until June 2028 and he contributed 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 games this season. His girlfriend Eva Garcia fuelled speculation over his future by writing “last game” with a crying emoji on social media on Sunday.
