Manchester United completely capitulated as Liverpool recorded their rivals' biggest ever defeat in their history, with Bruno Fernandes the main culprit for Gary Neville's criticism.
Gary Neville laid into Bruno Fernandes and branded the Manchester United star a "disgrace" after his role in the humiliating 7-0 defeat against fierce rivals Liverpool.
United suffered a second-half collapse like no other as they shipped six goals after being just one down at half-time, with their skipper for the afternoon bearing the brunt of Neville's anger. The former United defender was in the gantry commentating on the match for Sky Sports and let rip at Fernandes' behaviour.
The Portuguese midfielder first drew Neville's fury when he went down clutching his face after Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate used his arm to hold him off. Fernandes felt he should have been awarded a foul for Konate's actions, despite him barely making contact, with Neville branding his play-acting as "embarrassing".
The afternoon only got worse for United, as they simply couldn't deal with a rampant Liverpool who kept adding to their tally. After Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool's sixth, Erik ten Hag hauled off Marcus Rashford to be replaced by Anthony Elanga, only for Fernandes to signal to the bench and question why he was not the one who was being substituted - leaving Neville spitting feathers.
"Bruno Fernandes is stood in the centre circle with his arms raised saying why isn’t it me coming off? Honestly, I have to say that some of his behaviour in this second half has been a disgrace," Neville fumed.
United were well in the game and even had a goal disallowed at 0-0 when Casemiro's header was ruled out for offside. Shortly after, Cody Gakpo fired Liverpool in front with a superb right-foot finish after skipping inside Raphael Varane to take the hosts into the break ahead.
Liverpool then all but put the game to bed just five minutes into the second half with Darwin Nunez heading home his first before Gakpo bagged his brace with an exquisite chip over David de Gea. Salah made it four for Liverpool six minutes past the hour mark with a thumping half-volley which rattled off the crossbar on the way in.
Neville remarked at the time: "So much experience out there for United and they’re playing like schoolboys. Liverpool rampant."
Just when you thought United couldn't concede any more, the floodgates opened, with Nunez heading home Jordan Henderson's cross before Salah netted again for both forwards to join Gakpo on a brace. Roberto Firmino then tucked the ball home from close range to complete the rout.
Speaking after the game, Neville summarised: "Look, that first 40 minutes would be what I would call a classic away performance at Anfield where I thought Manchester United weathered the storm and it looked like they were gonna go and get the goal and go ahead at half-time, but they conceded just on the stroke of half-time.
"The second half has been an absolute disgrace - a shambles - epitomised no more by the captain, Bruno Fernandes, who I think has been embarrassing at times in this game. But, I have to say, it’s not their usual performance, it’s not their usual form, it’s not their usual spirit, and he [Ten Hag] will deal with it, I’m sure. Very quickly, like he’s dealt with other difficult situations this season."
"I'm shocked. But those players didn't realise how dangerous it is to come to Anfield. The game swallowed them up.
Manchester United were eaten alive today."
"We HAVE to come again! This is what Manchester United is about." Bruno Fernandes told Sky Sports after 0-7 defeat.

yeah he was, look how the team improved since he left. you just came to see one game yesterday, but real fans understand how that benefts the team, one loss will not define their season. united lost 9-0 against liverpool while he was leading the line last year, so nothing new in that regard
Shut up! Was Cr7 the problem that prevented them from winning a single trophy in the last 7 years?

When you they were winning no one says they need to apologies. This is football anything can happen.
They just have to understand that Cr7 wasn't the problem that prevented them from winning a single trophy in the last 7 years.

To hell with Gary and all those criticizing Bruno Fernandes. Is this the right way to approach the situation if someone who has been good flop for a day? Many people don't understand football, they just talk. Everyday is not gonna be bread and butter. There are bad times and when those times come, we should understand and encourage the players instead of opening our guts with criticism. Man U lost to Liverpool 7 goals to 0. Accepted!!!! It wasn't only Bruno on the pitch. Do you know what happens when your opponent starts to score more goals on you? You get fucking confused and especially when you're playing away. Those guys are not super human or neither do they have extra power. Some of these sports pundits will do everything to fish for relevance and attention. F**k Gary Neville.

So you think if RONALDO still play for MAN UNITED they can’t beat them like that right? Because I don’t understand why they have apologies.
They have to apologies because they made it look as if Cr7 was their problem.

This is one Bruno’s fault. Ten Hag is doing a great Job here at Man U but I’ll somehow blame him for this defeat. He should know when to play this players out of position. Wego shouldn’t be playing at number 10 in a big game like this also at Anfield and he should have played Rashford in is fav position where we would have seen him against TAA.

just because manchester united have lost a game today doesn't mean the topic of Ronaldo should come in and that the club were wrong to let him go. football is like draft Chess, a game of win, lose and draw. A better team always comes out victorious today wasn't our day it was Liverpool's we look forward to the next game
