Alexander Isak is set to seal his long-awaited move to Liverpool after the Reds agreed a £125m fee with Newcastle, who have replaced the striker with Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa
Gary Neville believes Liverpool are about to sign "one of the top centre forwards in the world" in Alexander Isak and says Arne Slot's side will be "confident as hell" if they can also snap up Marc Guehi before the transfer deadline.
The Reds have finally agreed a £125million deal with Newcastle for the signature of Isak after previously seeing a £110m bid rebuffed earlier this summer.
Isak has been on strike at Newcastle and recently insisted promises had been broken, with the club firing back at him before further talks were held at the player's house last week - with no further progress made.
Now the 25-year-old is heading for Anfield after the Magpies agreed to sign Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade as his replacement, while Eddie Howe is also set to sign Brentford's Yoane Wissa.
Liverpool are on a high after continuing their 100 percent start to the season with a vital 1-0 win over title rivals Arsenal on Sunday and Neville believes the Isak deal will only add to their confidence. He added that if they can also sign Crystal Palace defender Guehi, that feeling will go through the roof.
"The two games they've just played - they have a right battle at St James' Park and to come out of there with a victory was incredible," he said on the Gary Neville podcast. "To do this today, that must give them massive confidence. If they can get Isak and Guehi through the door, they're two starting players.
"Isak is one of the top centre forwards in the world. He's a real player. He's the one player I've seen give Saliba and Gabriel and Virgil Van Dijk a real hard time over the last couple of seasons. He's really caused them problems. He's a different level player.
"Isak coming into that team today, with Guehi coming in as well - for Liverpool to be on nine points with the two games they've had and think those two could be entering the building off the back end of the international break, they'll be absolutely buzzing and confident as hell."
Isak is set to sign a six-year deal at Anfield after completing his medical on Monday, ending the most drawn-out transfer saga of the summer.
Guehi, meanwhile, looks like a much harder deal for Liverpool to complete after Palace boss Oliver Glasner said the centre-back must stay if the club are to have a successful season.
"We have no chance to find the right replacement in one day," He said after their 3-0 win over Aston Villa, in which Guehi scored a screamer. "We all agreed that we just sell Marc if we have the right replacement in the building.
"We wanted a replacement by 1 July. It is 31 August and we have no replacement. We have this agreement so it is clear from me. He is such a crucial player. He is one of our key players - he is our captain."

Spot on, Gary, one wonders why Manchester United didn't bid for Ekitike, Gyokeres, Jackson and Nkunku replace Hojlund.
