Gary Neville says the ‘jury is out’ on Manchester United summer signing Benjamin Sesko, who he says ‘looks awkward’ and ‘well off it’.
Sesko has endured an underwhelming start to his Old Trafford career following a £74m move from RB Leipzig last summer.
Ruben Amorim turned to the Slovenia international after missing out on Viktor Gyokeres – who completed a £64m move to Arsenal.
Sesko has scored just two goals in 11 appearances for United and struggled to make an impact in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Club legend Neville was disappointed by Sesko’s performance against Forest and admitted he was still waiting to ‘see more’ from United’s most expensive summer signing.
Asked to assess Sesko’s display after the 22-year-old went a fifth game without a goal, Neville told NBC Sports: ‘I’m no further forward with him. The jury is out.
‘He’s well off it compared to the other summer signings that Man United made up front in [Matheus] Cunha and [Bryan] Mbeumo.
‘He looks awkward, he had a couple of really good opportunities in the first half when balls got played over the top and his touch wasn’t quite right.
‘For 80 million pound, you can say he’s young, has a lot of potential and is only just settling in, but you still want to see a bit more.’
Manchester United were seeking a fourth successive win on Saturday and made a superb start as Casemiro broke the deadlock before half-time.
Nottingham Forest are in the relegation zone but came from behind to lead 2-1 through Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona, who both scored shortly after the break.
Sean Dyche’s side were ten minutes away from a huge victory when Amad Diallo scored a superb equaliser to earn the visitors a point.
The result leaves Manchester United seventh in the Premier League while Forest remain 17th, now four points from safety.
Speaking after the stalemate, Red Devils boss Amorim said: ‘If I think about game, we lost control for five minutes.
‘I feel in the recent past if we had had this situation, going from 1-0 up to 2-1 down, we would’ve struggled so much more than we did today.
‘My feeling is that we played well but we dropped a little bit of energy. When we are full of energy, we are the better team.
‘My players are giving everything but we have the potential to do better and sometimes we have these moments.
‘In the end, we lost two points and we need to get three points in the next game.’
Manchester United face Tottenham next weekend, while Nottingham Forest return to Premier League action against Leeds United.

The other two signings have spent years in the premier league and they know the speed. He is learning that now. And how many real quality passes have you seen given to him?? The crosses are awful. Our wingbacks don’t bring crosses. Amad like to cut in and score. Bruno is playing deep. Don’t even let me start with Dorgu because that one is a joke. The only player connecting to him is the goalkeeper with the long balls. Which is not what a striker wants all the time…. Gary Neville is bored…. If you were expecting to see Haaland in him, we are sorry. He is not. He is Sesko❤️❤️

from what I saw, the playmakers do not passing him the ball when his completely open instead they go for a goal themselves

They don't give nice passes for him to finish only selfish wingers

what Gary neville said it's true, both midfield and wingers they were supplying nice ball for sesko to finish, but he failed to hold a ball and finished right, he only kick out side as if like he can't see the two pools, more about him is too weak, take a look what haaland doing, that's a striker, a striker 's the heart of the club, make my word 😉

No striker will thrive in Man U until Bruno leaves the club. Yes I know it won’t make sense to you but it’s the truth.
How does this concern Bruno again?

Sesko may be struggling now, but to compare him to Mbeumo or Cunha, that's unfair to the kid. Both players been in the Prem for a while as compared to sesko.

I agree with you, Sesko need to improve. opportunity comes once. The player he doesn't look hungry even if he misses, forgetting how hard did other playersstruggled to win that ball. he needs to work much harder to score goals. period.

How many times has the striker ( Sesko ) been put through on goal since he joined the club. The same thing happened to Rasmus and now he is thriving at Napoli Wayne Rooney's assessment was right, who creates the chances for the center forward in this united team, every attacking player wants to score. Let the boy be.

One game they say he’s good another game they say he look awkward, wtf these mfs ex-players from the club and players?? They create negative narrative to construct a build up of pressure on the team, there are so many other too players and strikers from other clubs Who’s struggling/underperforming but you don’t hear their ex players scrutinizing them. Ffs Gary Neville should be the last man on this earth to be critical of any coach/players cuz he didn’t last 6 months at Valencia.. embarrassing!!!

Those who praise sesko is good striker or not to be blame would you convinced me, they areas that striker supposed to be and created the atmosphere, first of all he's not opening the room of scoring the goal, second he's not control the ball such Cuhna, got space he blocked the room of scoring

he doesnt press he doesnt hold the ball that well..Cunha seems like he is annoyed with Sesko a lot by his play passage that’s not synced up with the rest of the team
