Atletico Madrid officially announced the signing of Gelson Martins on Wednesday morning, before the player trained with his new team in the evening.
Keen to reach peak fitness and to find his rhythm as soon as possible, the 23-year-old worked out at the club's Majadahonda base in the Spanish capital.
Along with Saul Niguez, Koke and Diego Costa, the first World Cup participants to return from their delayed holiday, the Portuguese player got to work.
With the exception of the other World Cup players, the rest of the squad are in Singapore at the moment as part of the team's pre-season.
Importantly, fitness coach Profe Ortega has stayed behind in Madrid to put the returning players through their paces as soon as they come back from holiday.
