Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's first Champions League appearance since suffering a serious knee injury 18 months ago was one to remember.
Match Reports
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain reintroduced himself to the Champions League in style with two goals in Liverpool's 4-1 win over Genk.
The England midfielder's last appearance in the competition came in the 2018 semi-final, when he suffered a serious knee injury that decimated a year of his career.
Recalled to Jurgen Klopp's midfield alongside Naby Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain's second-minute opener took a slight deflection but a majestic second before the hour was emphatically all his own work.

2' GOAL! Genk 0-1 Liverpool (Oxlade-Chamberlain)
Fabinho had options left and right, but instead opted to break the lines with a decisive forward pass to Oxlade-Chamberlain. The midfielder did the rest with a fine right-footed finish.
9' Alisson makes a brilliant save
Another straight ball over the top of the Liverpool defence from Cuesta sees Onuachu burst in behind the visitors’ backline. The attacker looks for the bottom corner from the centre of the box, but Alisson gets down quickly to his right to deny Genk an equalising goal.
26' Disallowed! Samatta scores but the goal is offside
Samatta had the ball in the back of the net after meeting Ito’s cross at the far post, but, after consulting VAR, the goal was ruled out for an offside in the build-up.
57' GOAL! Genk 0-2 Liverpool (Oxlade-Chamberlain)
After some good play down the left wing, Firmino spins and lays the ball off to Oxlade-Chamberlain on the edge of the box, who lofts his shot into the top left corner and beyond Coucke with the outside of his boot. A brilliant finish. 2-0.
77' GOAL! Genk 0-3 Liverpool (Mane)
Genk lose possession inside their own half and Firmino lays the ball off to Salah after some good work from Wijnaldum. The Egyptian slides a pass through for Mane, who chips Coucke with an inch-perfect finish from the centre of the box.
87' GOAL! Genk 0-4 Liverpool (Salah)
Salah makes it four! Mane patiently waits before playing the ball off to Salah on the edge of the area, who spins away from both Lucumi and Cuesta before slotting the finish beyond Coucke and into the bottom left corner.
88' GOAL! Genk 1-4 Liverpool (Odey)
Ndongala does brilliantly to skip beyond a number of Liverpool defenders down the left-hand side of the penalty area before pulling the ball back for Odey. From the centre of the box, the substitute fires beyond Alisson and into the bottom left corner.

Our midfield today was the difference, I have more confidence in this midfield than when there's Henderson. If we'd started this way against Man u we were going to bring 3 points from Old Trafford. Today my assertion was proven correct that if Mohamed Salah and Mane assist each other they are going to score more goals between themselves. Only if these guys can get this in their minds and learn from City attackers then they'll do more. Actually I wish they could learn from their friend Fermino, he is one of our selfless player in the team you just can't do anything but love him.

Naby Keïta managed an incredible 1️⃣3️⃣8️⃣ touches... the most by any player. He also managed 1️⃣1️⃣0️⃣ accurate passes (93.2%)! Influential‼️

I think oxlade chamberlein and kieta brings creativity in midfield. And this will lead to more goals and then it leads to premiere league title before man u. Whoever agree like here[byebye]

Liverpool have won two away CL group stage games since November 2009. And Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored in both of them.

Following an end-to-end game, Liverpool take all the points after a highly competitive match. Klopp's side started quickly and took the lead after just two minutes through Oxlade-Chamberlain's long-range drive which found the bottom right corner. Genk thought that they had equalised midway through the first half, but VAR ruled out Samatta's goal for offside on 27 minutes. After the restart, Oxlade-Chamberlain grabbed his second with a sublime strike on 57 minutes, with Mane making it three 20 minutes later. Six minutes from time, Salah added another for Liverpool, before Odey scored a late consolation goal for the home side.
