After France's impressive victory over Norway in the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage on Friday, German media have begun viewing the team as a potential opponent for Germany in the knockout stages.

France has been formidable. After winning all three matches in Group I, France is undoubtedly one of the standout teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Following their dominant victory over Norway, they have received widespread praise from media outlets worldwide, with particular attention paid to France's attacking prowess.

In Germany, the French team led by Mbappé has not gone unnoticed. Germany has already qualified but lost to Ecuador on Thursday and will face Paraguay in the Round of 16 on Monday. If Germany advances and France defeats Sweden at MetLife Stadium on Tuesday, the two teams could meet in the quarter-finals.

"Beware, Nagelsmann, beware, Germany!"

German media have already begun anticipating this potential matchup, which could take place in Philadelphia on Saturday, July 4th, with kickoff at 23:00 Beijing time. The German media are particularly concerned about the performance of Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembélé. Germany's Bild newspaper, under the headline "Dembélé's Performance is a Warning to Nagelsmann," described the player who scored a hat-trick against Norway as delivering an outstanding performance and wrote: "France is a threat even from the Round of 16 onward."

Reporter Antonia Maywald wrote: "Beware, Nagelsmann, beware, Germany! France launched a devastating offensive in their final FIFA World Cup group stage match. This French team is worth taking seriously, especially the star winger Ousmane Dembélé, who has sent a clear message to Nagelsmann and his team."

Sky Sports Germany stated: "Dembélé and France are on fire." Reporter Keri Hau also looked ahead to the upcoming fixtures: "If Germany first defeats Paraguay in the Round of 16 and then faces France in Philadelphia on July 4th, they will need to deliver an almost perfect performance. Dembélé and his teammates will certainly not hold back!"
