Joshua Kimmich scored twice as Germany thrashed minnows Luxembourg 4-0 in Sinsheim, where the visitors were reduced to 10 men.
Match Report
David Raum's superb 12th-minute free-kick had put Germany ahead in Friday's World Cup qualifier, before Luxembourg's already difficult task was made even harder.
Dirk Carlson received a red card for a deliberate handball when tussling with Serge Gnabry, and Kimmich stepped up to coolly slot home the resulting penalty.
Kimmich doubled up five minutes into the second half, tucking home from point-blank range after Luxembourg failed to clear their lines from a corner.
That goal made it 4-0, and came two minutes after Kimmich's Bayern Munich team-mate Gnabry had lashed in a brilliant third for Julian Nagelsmann's team.
Nick Woltemade also had a goal disallowed early on, while Florian Wirtz struck the woodwork with a free-kick before seeing several late half-chances for a much-needed, confidence-boosting goal go amiss as Germany moved top of World Cup qualifying Group A with six points from their three matches.
Data Debrief: Kimmich surpasses der Kaiser in style
Kimmich has now played 104 times for Germany, meaning he has played for his country more times than the late, great Franz Beckenbauer, who won 103 caps.
Should Kimmich play against Northern Ireland next week, he will move past Per Mertesacker and into the all-time top 10 for Germany caps, level with Jurgen Kohler on 105.
From his position at right-back, Kimmich had 113 touches and attempted 78 passes, with 71 of those accurate, ranking third in Germany's team in all of those metrics, while his 10 crosses were bettered only by Raum, who delivered 12 from the left flank while creating a game-leading five chances.
